The Faculty of Sport is a regular member of the UL. During its 56-year development as a HE institution, it has passed in-depth knowledge in various fields of human motor activity, in order to meet the increasing demands of society for professional skills in these fields. One of the most remarkable and influential projects of the Faculty is the SLOfit system which is the outcome of reach research legacy of Faculty on somatic and motor development of children and youth. The SLOfit is the annual national surveillance system of physical fitness and somatic development of children from age 6 to 18, which was implemented in 1982 in all Slovenian schools. This means that SLOfit database today includes over 7.5 million sets of measurements of around 1,000,000 people, which is one half of the entire population of Slovenia.

The Laboratory for the Diagnostics of Somatic and Motor Development provides the Slovenian national database SLOfit, which is one of the largest databases of children’s somatic and motor development in the world as a use case for integration of physical fitness data into primary health care e-system. This is going to be pilot tested on one local primary care institution and later transferred to other local settings. The developed platform enables school physicians, teachers, parents and children to access children’s developmental data according to their administrative rights. Additionally, the system allows automatic feed of children’s physical activity from smart phone applications and smart bracelets into the SLOfit database children’s profiles to supplement their physical fitness data. The Laboratory enables the system to be tested on required number of children. What is more. ULJ leads the use case of Data value in healthcare emerging from public environments, where the communication between health institutions and schools will be reinforced, while the collective knowledge on physical fitness and physical activity of children will be improved, reducing health risks, linked to children’s inactivity and obesity.
